Comrie, Americans shut out Silvertips on the road

October 3, 2012

Eric Comrie finished with 35 saves for his fourth career shutout to lead the Tri-City Americans to a 2-0 victory Wednesday over the Everett Silvertips at Comcast Arena.

It was the first road victory of the season for the Americans (2-3-0-0, 4 points), and their second win over Everett (1-3-0-1, 3 points) in seven days.

Malte Strömwall opened the scoring for the Americans at 7:42 of the first period, notching a power-play goal off an assist by Drydn Dow. Strömwall has a league-leading five-game point streak.

Jordan Messier capped the scoring at 9:52 of the third for Tri-City, which will host Lethbridge on Friday.

Comrie was simply outstanding, stopping a breakaway by Josh Winquist late in the second period, and turning away 18 shots in the third period.

Justin Hamonic and Tyson Dallman each had an assist for the Americans.
