Had a chance tonight before the phone calls got hot and heavy to put together a list of the Mid-Columbia Conference’s top single-game performers in football so far.

Thanks to John Crawford’s wonderful stat keeping, it was only a minor labor of love, much as I was to my mother some 42 years ago.

Now, these leaders are going to be given a good shakeup after this week — Devven Ramos going over 300 yards rushing in Kennewick’s win Thursday, and Javan Williams catching 12 balls for 172 yards Friday for Kamiakin both are new leaders. But until those numbers become official — stats come out Sunday — we'll stick with what we got so far.

A couple of interesting things come to light when looking at the list heading into this week’s games.

The first is this: The MCC is a rush-happy league, and I don’t mean “rush the quarterback” rush.

In the first four weeks of the season, there were six 200-yard rushing performances, topped by Walla Walla’s Jonah Hoe (276 vs. Davis on Sept. 14) and Hanford’s Jalen DeVine (262 vs. Walla Walla on Sept. 21).

DeVine is all over the top 10 with games of 209 and 186 yards to his credit as well. Pasco’s Luis Murillo (219 and 204) also has a pair of 200-yarders.

As far as the busiest runners, Hoe and Clifton Lozano each ave topped 30 carries twice, and Hoe’s four rushing TDs in Week 3 against Davis are tops.

With all that running, there really hasn’t been much passing ... except at Kamiakin. Braves QB Kylle Robertson has three of the top four totals in passing yards (285, 246 and 207). Walla Walla’s Dakota Turner (222) is the only other MCC QB to top 200 yards in a game this year.

Again, that was coming into this week.

The Braves also are all over the receiving stats. K Perrins had the top two yardage games (150 and 137) and No. 1 catches (10). Joining him in the top 10s are Williams three times and Brandon Larsen twice.
