The serving of Alex Johnson and Whitney Wheat helped lead Chiawana to a four-set road victory Thursday against Kamiakin in Mid-Columbia Conference play.
Wheat served the final three points to close out the match, as the Riverhawks rallied from 23-19 and 24-22 deficits in the fourth set.
Johnson served seven consecutive points in the third set to lead Chiawana out of a 17-14 hole.
It was a good, kind of character win, Chiawana head coach Jim Steach said. Were still trying to figure out what it means to compete. Amanda Miller was 15-of-16 serving with three aces, 10 kills and 17 digs to lead the Braves.
Weve taken them to five games before over at their place, and I thought we could compete, Kamiakin coach Mary Opitz said. We had moments where we did well and moments where we didnt. You have to be more consistent against a team like that.
