Mid-Columbia Conference cross country meet canceled

The poor air quality throughout Eastern Washington continues to wreak havoc on sporting events.

The Mid-Columbia Conference cross country meet, scheduled for Thursday in Walla Walla has been postponed. A makeup date has not been determined.

Smoke continues to fill the skies throughout Eastern Washington as a result of large wildfires burning on the east slopes of the Cascade Mountains.

Walla Walla Public Schools canceled all outside activities for students today, including the cross country meet, a freshman football game and recess.

Elsewhere, the Grandview-Ellensburg football game has been moved to Grandview at 7 p.m. Friday because of smoky air in the Kittitas Valley. The Central Washington University-Azusa Pacific football game scheduled for Saturday in Ellensburg, was moved to Bothell as a result of the conditions as well.

Numerous games in Wenatchee have been canceled or moved, including the Eastmont vs. Wenatchee football game. It will be played at 7 p.m. Friday in Moses Lake.
