William Jennings Bryan spoke briefly to a crowd of about 500 people from the rear platform of Norther Pacific train No. 334 in Kennewick.

Col. Bryan was en route to Spokane. Seeing the number of children in the audience he said, "I prefer to talk to children, for what you tell a child lasts longer than what you tell an older person."
