The story of Al Stevens, 1920 Howell Ave., Richland will be told in a Jack Webb television drama later this month. Stevens was hit by a Japanese 44mm shell, which lodged in his abdomen and failed to explode in 1945. An operation later removed the shell. Stevens survived but walks with a pronounced limp.
