Pasco fire crews battle a single-wide fire on Thursday evening at the Lakeview Mobile Home Park near Sacajawea State Park in Pasco. The resident, who was home at the time, was treated by paramedics, but was not seriously hurt in the blaze. The fire caused a total loss of the home and the heat damaged siding at a neighboring single-wide.

A mobile home near Sacajawea State Park in Pasco was destroyed by fire late Thursday afternoon.

The cause is under investigation, said Lt. Ken Meyers with Pasco Fire Department. One resident from the trailer was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, Meyers said.

Firefighters arrived at 1505 S. Road 40 E, lot No. 907 in the Lakeview Mobile Home Park at 5 p.m. to find the home fully engulfed in flames, he said, but firefighters were able to protect homes on both sides from major damage because crews arrived in time.

There was no wind to hamper the firefighters, but Meyers said the gas tank on a propane barbecue exploded, which delayed the effort.

"There was a barbecue close to the building, which you shouldn't do," Meyers said.

Crews from Kennewick and Walla Walla Fire District 5 also helped.
