BOISE, Idaho -- The Vancouver Canadians scored seven runs in the top of the eighth inning, then held on to defeat the host Boise Hawks 12-9 on Sunday night to win the Northwest League championship.
The Canadians, a Toronto Blue Jays' farm team, won their second consecutive league title, beating the Hawks -- a Chicago Cubs' farm team -- 2 games to 1.
Kellen Sweeney, Balbino Fuenmayor and D.J. Davis each had three hits for Vancouver.
Sweeney's two-out single in the eighth gave the Canadians the lead for good at 8-7.
All seven runs in the eighth were scored with two outs.
