Ellie Heiden scored three minutes into overtime to lift the Kamiakin Braves to a 2-1 win over the Chiawana Riverhawks on Saturday at Lampson Stadium.
Kamiakin's Rachel Young knocked in a goal in the 73rd minute to tie the score.
"I was really proud of the girls because we didn't score till late in the second half, and that's a long time to keep fighting," Kamiakin coach Chris Erikson said. "We really started to show endurance at the very end."
Alexis Stephensen put Chiawana on the board at 5:30, but Erikson was pleased with the effort from goalkeeper Kelci Young, who started in place of Sydnee Grant (concussion), and the Braves' defense, a good sign as Kamiakin motors through Mid-Columbia Conference play.
"What you have on your bench is gonna matter a lot, whether you have the depth to get through injuries and fatigue," Erikson said.

"We aren't the well-oiled conditioned machine that Ephrata is at this point of the season," Grandview coach Anne Holden said. "They have a lot of returning key kids. All the credit to them. We have to work a little more and capitalize on our shots. We just didn't put it away."
