Norman Hickey, 27, Richland survived the first operation ever performed on a human to plug a hole in the wall of the aorta and is reported doing "just splendid" in Arlington, Va. He was discharged from the Army when the condition was discovered and the operation performed at the National Heart Institute in Virginia.
