Bayfair race next on H1 hydroplane schedule

Tri-City HeraldSeptember 6, 2012

Bayfair in San Diego runs Sept. 14-16, with 11 unlimited hydroplane teams scheduled to appear.

Driver Steve David and the U-6 Oh Boy! Oberto will head into the event leading Dave Villwock and the U-1 Spirit of Qatar by 193 points in the H1 Unlimited Series high points championship chase. ...

The U-11 Miss Peters & May has had a tough season so far, and it got a lot rougher last week when driver -- and co-owner -- JW Myers stepped down to let his injured shoulder recover from a flip at the Gold Cup in Detroit back in July.

Myers and team co-owners Scott and Shannon Raney have selected Tom Thompson to step into the cockpit.

Thompson will have to qualify as a driver in San Diego by running 15 laps at 130 mph or better.
