The U-11 Miss Peters & May has had a tough season so far, and it got a lot rougher last week when driver -- and co-owner -- JW Myers stepped down to let his injured shoulder recover from a flip at the Gold Cup in Detroit back in July.
Myers and team co-owners Scott and Shannon Raney have selected Tom Thompson to step into the cockpit.
Thompson will have to qualify as a driver in San Diego by running 15 laps at 130 mph or better.
