Jordan Martinook had something to yell about Friday: a contract from the Coyotes.

Jordan Martinook signed a contract with the Phoenix Coyotes on Friday, further curtailing the chances of him returning to the Vancouver Giants.

As a 20-year-old, he is eligible to play in the minors this coming season. The Coyotes drafted him in the second round, 58th overall this summer, on the strength of his 40-goal season in 2011-12.

Terms of the contract were not announced, but Martinook said, “It worked out good, for my side at least. I’m not sure how they feel about it. I’m happy.”

“They told me I’m not coming back here. I’m going to miss Vancouver, but they said they want me in Portland [AHL] or Phoenix, depending on what happens.”
