SPOKANE, Wash. — The Tri-City Dust Devils scored three runs in the top of the ninth to rally for an 8-6 victory against the host Spokane Indians on Tuesday in Northwest League action.
Tom Murphy hit a solo home run in the eighth and a two-run double in the ninth to help the Dust Devils rally.
Trailing 6-4 after seven, Murphy homered leading off the eighth to pull Tri-City within 6-5. The next three Dust Devils struck out, but Murphy wasnt done.
With one out in the ninth, Richard Pirkle was hit by a pitch. He stole second base and Kyle Von Tungeln walked, sandwiching a fly out for the second out.
Rosell Herrera then hit a run-scoring single to tie the game at 6. Murphy followed with a two-run double to put Tri-City ahead in a driving downpour.
Trent Blank (1-0) earned the victory in relief of Roberto Padilla.
Seth Willoughby struck out two in the ninth to earn the save.
