Aug. 12 anniversaries

Marlene and Larry Jelsing

Marlene and Larry Jelsing, of Kennewick, celebrated their 50th anniversary with a cruise to Alaska with their children and grandchildren.

They were married Aug. 5, at the Methodist Church in Streeter, N.D.

After living in Spokane, they moved to the Mid-Columbia in 1966.

Marlene was an elementary school music teacher. She retired from the Kennewick School District in 2002.

Larry was a certified public accountant for Niemi, Holland and Scott, becoming a partner in 1972 and retiring in 2002. He was a hit on a call-in tax program for eight seasons on KONA radio and was a speaker at tax seminars around the state of Washington.

The couple enjoy traveling in their motorhome, cruises and trips to Europe. Their favorite is attending grandchildrens' school, music and sports events. They are active members of Kennewick First United Methodist Church.

They have three children, Lori (Alan) Butler of Burbank; Heidi (Jeff) Ilenstine of Greenacres; and Carrie (Chris) Dinwoodie of Colbert.

They have nine grandchildren.
