Softball: Washington Angels 96 still alive at Western Nationals

August 5, 2012

After going 2-1 on Saturday, the Washington Angels 96 are one of four teams left in the 18 Gold Western Nationals in Portland.

The Angels will face the Washington Acers at 8:30 a.m. today.

Both of the Angels’ wins were shutouts, 8-0 against SBA MsStix (Des Moines) and 7-0 against the Oregon Blaze.

Nicolette Nesbitt pitched in both victories. She went all five innings against SBA MsStix and combined on a five-hitter with Southridge’s Janelle Randles to beat the Blaze in seven innings.

Randles and Moses Lake’s Hailee Bishop each drove in two runs against Oregon.

The Angels’ lone loss was a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Pacific Coast Predators (Thousand Oaks, Calif.). Cylie Richards had an RBI groundout in the sixth inning for the Angels, and Kamiakin teammate Hunter Schneitter finished with two hits.
