HYDROS: Heat 3A is done

July 29, 2012

J. Michael Kelly, driving the U-37 Miss Beacon Plumbing, picked up his second straight heat win by holding off Scott Liddycoat and the 88 Degree Men.

Kelly parked his boat in lane 1 with 2 minutes and 30 seconds to go before the score-up bouy deadline.

And Lane 1 was where he needed to be.

JW Myers in the U-11 Peters & May was first to the turn, but officials said he jumped the gun and was penalized a lap, then cot called for encroachment and lost 50 points.

That left Kelly in the lead, and he actually came out of the turn in the lead.

Liddycoat tried to run him down, but couldn't do it.

He finished second, while Jon Zimmerman in the U-9 was third. Mark Evans in the U-57 held off Nate Brown in the U-17 for fourth.

Myers had a sixth-place finish.
