— Kennewick's Gregg LaVoie will tee off at 9:20 a.m. today in the first round of the 46th Pacific Coast Amateur Championship at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Ore.

The 72-hole stroke-play tournament is a four-day event featuring a field of 84 of the world's top amateurs.

Representing the Washington State Golf Association in the team championship competition will be Olympia's Jarred Bossio, Kent's Nicholas Varelia and Ellensburg's Dan Whitaker.

Bossio was the 2011 state amateur champion and was quarterfinalist in the PNGA Men’s Amateur earlier this month. Varelia was named 2012 Great Northern Conference Player of the Year and finished second in the 2012 state amateur. And Whitaker was medalist at this year's U.S. Open local qualifier and runner-up in the 2011 NW Open.
