Strankman tied for ninth at PNGA Women's Amateur

Chessey Thomas of Spokane and Kyla Inaba of Kelowna, British Columbia, finished tied at the top of the leaderboard with an even-par 71 apiece in the first round of the 111th PNGA Women’s Amateur Championship on the Valley Course at Bear Mountain Resort on Monday.

Richland’s Kristin Strankman shot an 80 to feed into a five-way tie at ninth place.

Meanwhile, in the first round of the 11th PNGA Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship, Alison Murdoch of Victoria, British Columbia, and Seattle’s Leslie Folsom each shot 77 to enter today’s round at the top of the leaderboard.
