Kennewick hot dog eating contest Saturday will benefit Special Olympics

July 13, 2012

— Yokes Fresh Market at 27th Avenue and Olympia Street in Kennewick will play host to the first Homme’s Annual Hot Dog Extravaganza at noon today, a hot-dog eating contest to benefit the Special Olympics.

The contest was the brainchild of Ted Homme, whose family held their own version of Nathan’s Famous July 4 International contest but wanted to expand the event to benefit a good cause.

Homme said there are 15 participants signed up, but he will accept participants up until showtime. The entry fee is $250.
