Darlene and Wilburn 'Lee' Smith

Darlene and Wilburn "Lee" Smith of Pasco celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 23-30 with a family cruise to the Caribbean.

They were married July 1, 1962, at the Second Presbyterian Church in Lincoln, Neb. They moved to the Mid-Columbia from Madison, Ala., in 1994.

Darlene graduated from Nebraska University in 1960. She taught elementary education in many states before retiring in 1994.

She is an active member of Bechtel Women's Group, Tri-City Quilters and S.E.W. Quilters.

Lee graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1961. After a four-year Navy tour, he joined Bechtel for a construction lifestyle. Assignments over a 30-year career included many states and project types. He retired from Bechtel at Hanford in 1995.

He is an active member and volunteer with Tri-City Genealogical Society as past president and long-term editor of their publication.

They have two daughters, Carrie Burkhead of Cypress Texas and Douglas Smith of Richmond, Ky.

They have four grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.
