Bad directive

June 29, 2012

I think it is an outrage that the Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office told the family and public that they can't hold private searches for missing boater Timmy Bowden. If sheriff department officials were in that family's position, you can bet your butt that they would not just stand by and allow the authorities to do their job, which in this case they aren't in my opinion.

They wasted critical time by not searching for him Monday. I feel for the family and pray for them. There may be a time when a person is faced with the choice of either obeying the directions given to them by an authority figure or completely going against what they were directed.

I hope that anyone involved with this crisis recognizes that and does what they feel is the right thing to do in their hearts and not what someone has told them to do. If it was me, I would be getting everyone I know together and searching no matter what I was told.
