This little note came across my email earlier today.
The Western Hockey League will be hosting a WHL Officiating Development Camp this week in Calgary, Alberta, at the Father David Bauer Arena, from June 21-24. The camps feature classroom sessions, fitness sessions, instructional on-ice sessions, and game situations.
The camps are designed to assist with the personal development of all officials in attendance, and to evaluate prospect WHL officials in game situations.
In my opinion, they need to have one of these camps once a month during the offseason.
This past season was one of the poorest I've seen when it came to officiating, and it didn't improve with the playoffs.
I'm happy to see Kevin Muench and his staff taking steps to fix the problem.
