Pet adoption

Published: June 14, 2012

I recently decided I'd like to have a cat to care for. A kitten wasn't what I wanted, so my daughter Sherri and I viewed pictures of adult cats on the Benton Franklin Humane Society website. Congratulations to the photographer for supplying such wonderful photos for their display. We chose a few cats that we wanted to see.

The one I thought I wanted based on the pictures was not even slightly interested in us when the attendant got her out for us to hold. After finding a beautiful brown tabby, and a new dose of hand sanitizer, we were holding my new sweet, lovable, funny house cat companion. She made a huge impression immediately.

The folks at the Benton Franklin Humane Society were wonderful to work with, and I appreciated the safeguards and three-day trial before the adoption could take place. Their new facility is very nice. I'm extremely grateful for my new pet and to the person who let her be adopted and for the staff who helped guide me though the process.

Thanks everyone.
