Jessica Miracle had resigned herself to a life without competitive softball.

Though she had spent the last seven years playing club and high school ball, Miracle had received little interest from college programs. So she decided to attend Washington State University in Pullman, where she would study digital technology and culture.

But Miracle's plans changed after she helped Kamiakin High School win the Class 3A state title late last month in Lacey.

Coaches from several schools, including Central Washington and Saint Martin's, approached her with offers.

"Even while it was getting closer to going to WSU, and high school was ending, I was starting to reconsider already because I was going to miss softball so much," Miracle said.

After discussing the situation with her high school coach, Tammy Hutchison, and some of her teammates, Miracle decided to accept Central Washington's offer. She has applied to the school and hopes to get everything finalized in the next few weeks.

Not only will Miracle have an opportunity to continue playing as a catcher, but the aspiring animator will get to study art. Also, she will team up with former Walla Walla standouts Andrea Hamada and Jill McDaniels, and Hanford's Remy Bradley.

"I've actually played with Remy for a while," Miracle said, "so I'm actually really excited that I know somebody."
