Kamiakin seniors set to play in All-State feeder game

Still fresh from their Class 3A state baseball triumph, Kamiakin seniors Jesse Houser, Drew Oord, Nolan Earley, Andrew Castillo and Jacob Valdez are among the area seniors slated to participate in the All-State Series feeder game scheduled to start at 3 p.m. today at LaPierre Field.

Walla Walla’s Josh Eggers and Moe Handcox, and Chiawana’s CJ Edrington and Richland's Connor Moore are among the 4A standouts listed to play in the 10-inning game.

After the game, 10 players will be nominated to the All-State tournament series scheduled for June 9-10 at Yakima County Stadium.

Admission to the game today is free, but concessions will be unavailable on site.

Gamache, Connell’s Kennan VanHollebeke, Kiona-Benton’s John Kortz and Royal’s Daniel Vermeer are among the area seniors selected to participate in the South Central Washington A/B/AA feeder doubleheader set to begin at noon Saturday at Ranger Field in Naches. The second game is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m. Nominated players need to report at the field at 10:15 a.m.

• Junior American Legion: Hunter Chambers hit a home run in the nightcap as the Richland Knights bounced back from a Game 1 loss with a 6-1 win against the Hanford Flames in a doubleheader Wednesday at Hanford High School.

David Jurgens, Jon Miles and McKaden Manderbach had a hit apiece as the Flames won the first game 5-3.
