RICHLAND — The Kennewick Mayhem cracked open their Senior Babe Ruth season with a sweep of 14-0 and 9-0 against the Richland Raptors on Tuesday at Horn Rapids.
The Mayhems Blue Chavez had five RBIs in the opener to help back up pitcher Jordan Knapeks performance of five strikeouts and four hits over the five-inning game.
And in the nightcap abbreviated to six innings because of darkness the Mayhems Tanner Gottschalk had two RBIs and Mason Mahan had three hits and a double to support a defense highlighted by Terry Tracy, who struck out five Raptors over three innings.
Kennewick will return to Horn Rapids on Thursday for a doubleheader against the Richland Tigers.
