ELLENSBURG -- The DeSales Fighting Irish claimed the program's 17th Class 2B state championship Saturday in Ellensburg, beating Asotin 9-2 in the state title game at Rotary Field.
Joe Duehn hit a two-run single in the fourth inning to start a five-run outburst that propelled the Irish to its first championship since 2008.
Duehn and Travis Haen each had two hits.
