The 14,135 acre McWhorter Ranch on the south slope of Rattlesnake Mountain near Prosser goes on sale June 1. The state of Washington plans to negotiate for the property, which could cost up to about $7 million. The state is interested in the McWhorter Ranch because itÕs a chance to save a large swath of arid lands shrub steppe, an ecosystem thatÕs been disappearing beneath development in Eastern Washington.
