Zimmerman continues to impress soccer fans overseas

May 14, 2012

Thanks to Ken Zimmerman for sending along another clip of his son, Preston, who is playing for Darmstadt 98 in the Hesse region of Germany.

He's doing quite well, too. His dad recently reported that Kicker magazine, the country's top sports publication, named Preston to its Best 11.

Here's a couple of Darmstadt highlight clips Ken sent along from the club's most recent games. Keep a close eye around the 2:55 mark, when Preston delivers a nice cross from the right wing that gets sent to the left post for a score in a 2-2 draw against VFB Stuttgart.

This next clip is pretty cool. It shows Zimmerman scoring two goals — the first at the :25 second mark, the second at the 3:30 mark — in Darmstadt's 3-1 win over Babelsburg. Preston played the full 90 minutes in the win, which allowed Darmstadt to maintain its status in the same division next year.

Here's a short clip of an interview with Preston, draped in an American flag beginning at the 2:00 mark. I don't speak German, but it seems like he's quite comfortable with the language, and his dad says he's having a blast playing over there.

Keep it up Preston!!

And thanks for passing along the highlights, Ken!!
