Run, don't walk, to help WSU Tri-Cities students Saturday

March 31, 2012

— The Mid-Columbia road racing community might still be recovering from the Badger Mountain endurance races, so here's a veritable sprint -- Saturday's Fund the Future Run 5K at the WSU Tri-Cities campus in Richland.

It's actually a two-day event, starting with a free carb-load dinner of spaghetti -- catered by the Country Gentleman -- at the East Building Commons from 5-7 p.m. Friday. Pre-registration is required to participate in the dinner.

Folks are encouraged to show support for your college by wearing your school colors for Saturday's 5K and the 50-yard dash. Starting time is listed as 10 a.m. Cost is $20 for the general public, but alumni and students get discounted entry fees.

Proceeds go to the Associated Students of Washington State University Tri-Cities to help students with books and expenses.

Call 509-372-7188 or go to the student body's website linked to above.
