I am thankful for the talented people in our community who share their abilities with fellow human beings less fortunate than ourselves.

The person with whom I am most familiar is Dr. Jim Guzek of Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute here in Kennewick. Dr. Guzek is making his fourth trip to Dembi Dolo, Ethiopia, next week to continue his effort to restore sight to people blind with cataracts.

There are many people in that area who are totally blind with cataracts. It is treatable with surgery. Dr. Guzek has restored sight to over 300 people in Ethiopia and is helping develop a local medical infrastructure to continue his work.

Today, Bella's Office Furniture, 7525 Clearwater Ave., is holding an office chair sale with all proceeds donated to Dr. Jim Guzek's effort to restore sight. Your donation of $50 will buy you a chair and restore the sight of a blind person.
