Dayton falls to Toutle Lake at boys 2B state

SPOKANE -- Anthony Heinzman scored 19 points as Toutle Lake earned a 62-51 victory over Dayton on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Class 2B boys state tournament.

Zack Hayes and Austin Hoffman added 10 each for the Ducks (21-4), who will face Colfax today in the semifinals.

Hayden Fullerton and Garett Turner each scored 13 for the Bulldogs (23-2), who will play La Conner in a loser-out game.

Toutle Lake outscored Dayton 20-8 in the second quarter, turning a 12-11 deficit into a 31-20 lead, capped by a Heinzman 3-pointer with 25 seconds left. Six consecutive points to start the second half pushed the Ducks' lead to 37-20.

From there, Dayton trailed by double digits until the final minute, when it briefly cut the deficit to eight.
