Knowing Vi Williams, we were dismayed at the graphic description of her murder written in the newspaper's account. Even for those who only know her from her church pew, that account was over the edge. This charming woman deserved a more discrete comment of her last minutes from the newspaper.
In addition, regarding the absence of court orders and Eastern State Hospital's lack of clear information centering about her grandson's release to authorities here, let us make one proposal to change the Patients' Privacy Act (HIPAA) so that it aids rather than hinders legal and law enforcement's efforts; eschewing legal information was not its intent. The act might also diminish making court orders. Let's get after our federal legislators to amend our hospital privacy act so that there will be a free and open exchange of legal information for court process; keep the legal eagles out of the fog.
