TOPPENISH -- The Connell girls basketball team struggled Saturday and it cost them their season.
The Eagles fell 52-35 to Goldendale in a Class 1A District 5 elimination game for the No. 3 seed to state next week.
"Goldendale shot 38 free throws and we shot nine," Connell coach Kameron Jenks said. "That told the story of that game."
"It was a great season, it's just that we, offensively, couldn't get it going today, and you've got to credit them (Goldendale) and their defense.
"We beat 'em by 22 last week and they returned the favor this week."
Shelby English led the Eagles with nine points, while Michelle Schultz added eight, and Marci Hawkins, Kody Easterday and Elaine Pierson had six points each.

Kelsey Yenney went 6-for-9 from 3-point range to garner 26 points and turn out the lights on Prosser in a Class 2A District 5/6 Tournament elimination battle for a seat at the Regional Round table. Sydney Mercer led the Mustangs effort with 13 points and seven rebounds.
