Connell girls oust River View 45-30

ZILLAH -- Shelby English played solid defense, and balanced scoring led the way as the Connell girls basketball team knocked off River View 45-30 on Thursday in a Class 1A District 5 tournament elimination game at Zillah High.

English held River View's Kim Gier, the SCAC East MVP and scoring leader, to 14 points.

"The defense is what won us that ballgame," Connell coach Kameron Jenks said.

Marci Hawkins and Michelle Schultz each had 11 points to lead Connell.

CONNELL -- Thompson 2, Hawkins 11, Easterday 2, K. Booker, M. Booker 8, Reiner, Whitby, Pierson 2, English 9, Schultz 11.
