The Mid-Columbia did not land any No. 1 seeds for the preliminaries of this year's boys state swimming and diving championships, but several competitors are in position to place well at the meet this upcoming weekend.

Richland senior Nick Connors is the No. 3 seed in the 4A 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1 minute, 45.97 seconds. Prosser sophomore Will Burgett is seeded third in the 2A 100 breaststroke with his school-record time at districts (1:01.45).

Connors and Burgett are seeded in the top 10 in their other individual events. Connors has the No. 8 seed in the 500 free, while Burgett is 10th in the 50 free.

Other individuals who got top-10 seeds include Richland's Ashton Pollick (sixth, 4A 200 individual medley) and Andrew Blanchard (eighth, 100 butterfly); Walla Walla's Jonathon Klem (ninth, 4A 200 IM; 10th, 100 breaststroke); Moses Lake's Brenden Eslick (fifth, 4A 200 free); Hanford's Will Wertz (ninth, 3A 200 free; eighth, 100 free), BJ Deatherage (10th, 1-meter diving), Jake Douglas (ninth, 100 fly), Jeevan Philip (10th, 100 fly) and Andrew Peacock (10th, 100 breast); and Prosser's Nolan Saam (seventh, 2A 100 breast).

This year's meet is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
