Rangers run and gun against Bears 64-44

Naches Valley hit six 3-pointers in the first quarter and had eight treys in the first half, bombing Kiona-Benton into submission en route to a 64-44Class 1A District 5 semifinal win Saturday in Wapato.

"We hadn't played them, and we had some bad mismatches," Kiona-Benton coach Jack Rose said. "We made the adjustments and made it a game, but we weren't able to recover."

Cristian Aguilar led the Bears with 16 points. Mick Phelps added 10 points, but his post compadre Dalton Morgan was shut out.

Royal 38, Columbia-Burbank 32: The Knights ended the Coyotes season in a Class 1A District 5 tournament consolation game.

Kent Christensen scored 13 points to lead Royal (12-8), which will face Kiona-Benton on Thursday in another elimination game.

Nathan Roberts led the Coyotes with 14 points.
