Gay marriage

In response to Michael Scrimsher's Jan. 18 letter.

First of all, I too disagree with many of Gov. Chris Gregiore's decisions and can't wait to see her out of office, but I agree with her decision to allow gay marriage. I see no harm in it.

Scrimsher brings up the fact that it is nonbeneficial to the country for same sex couples to marry since procreation isn't possible. Every year, many children from infant to teen are given up for adoption because their heterosexual parents weren't ready to be parents, or they abused their right as parents by abusing their children. Many of these children never get adopted by loving parents.

Homosexual couples are left with no choice but to adopt, counterbalancing society's abuse of parenthood. And don't even get me started on heterosexual divorce rates. Scrimsher's obviously biased argument against gay marriage seriously disturbs me. The idea that someone can watch the news and pay attention to current events and be upset at something as innocent and unthreatening as gay marriage is beyond me.
