Congressional reforms

Want to fix Congress? Here are some suggestions. Some are my thoughts ... some are from others:

1. Require Congressional members prepare their own tax return without the aid of a tax professional; and require their returns to be audited. That might incentivize congress to construct a less complicated and fairer tax code.

2. Eliminate congressional pensions. Members, past, present and future, be required to participate in Social Security and/or private retirement accounts; and require the Congressional retirement fund be transferred to the Social Security system so that Congress participates the same as the American people.

3. Require laws passed by Congress applying to the people apply equally to Congress. No more congressional exemptions or special privilege.

4. Institute term limits. Career politicians tend to serve themselves and their vote-buying contributors ... not the people.

5. Require Congressional members and state governors seeking higher office to first resign their current office. They are not elected to use their office as a springboard to higher office.
