KENNEWICK — A 24-year-old Kennewick man was arrested early Monday for allegedly stabbing another man in the stomach.

Alexander W. Edwards is under investigation for first-degree assault and being held at the Benton County jail, said the Kennewick Police Department.

Victim Stephen M. Theofelif, 22, did not suffer life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police said they were called to a party just after midnight at 611 E. Ninth Place.

Edwards reportedly got into a fight and assaulted several people before grabbing a knife and stabbing Theofelif. It is not known what caused the fight, but police said alcohol is a possible factor.

Theofelif was treated at Kennewick General Hospital.

3 men arrested in Pasco beer robbery

Three men were arrested early Monday in Pasco for allegedly beating up a store clerk while trying to steal some beer.

The men entered the 7-Eleven at 14th and Sylvester streets about 2 a.m. One of them tried to distract the clerk while the others allegedly grabbed a six-pack of beer and left the store.

The clerk went outside to confront the men and was pushed to the ground and repeatedly kicked, said Pasco police Capt. Jim Raymond. The suspects then drove away in a white Kia Optima.

They were stopped a short time later and arrested on suspicion of robbery. Arrested were: Alejandro Ramos-Ramirez, 25, of Kennewick; Salvador Ramos, 22, of Kennewick; and Emilio Garza, 21, of Pasco. They were taken to the Franklin County jail.

The clerk suffered minor injuries.

Man arrested in connection to Pasco burglaries, car prowls

Franklin County sheriff's deputies have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with a string of home burglaries and car prowls in an area north of Pasco.

Thomas T. Miller, 24, was arrested Friday after deputies served four search warrants and were able to recover some stolen items.

Not all of the stolen property has been found, said sheriff's Sgt. Jim Dickenson in a news release.

Eighteen residents around Taylor Flats Road reported that their homes or cars were broken into last month.

Miller was arrested on suspicion of residential burglary, possessing stolen property, theft, possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and felony threats.

Most of the break-ins were vehicle prowls, but two homes were burglarized and guns, laptops and two TVs were taken.

Tips from citizens led to an earlier arrest of three men, but they have not been tied to the burglaries, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies said they also have searched two locations after getting tips from residents and found an illegal marijuana growing operation.

2 Pasco men arrested after marijuana found

Two Pasco men were jailed during the weekend after allegedly being caught with half a pound of marijuana.

Pasco officers were looking Friday afternoon for Lawrence Adams, 26, of Pasco, at a home at 1911 W. Jay St. because there were several warrants for his arrest.

Adams wouldn't voluntarily give himself up to police, but officers managed to get a search warrant after smelling marijuana inside the home, said Capt. Jim Raymond.

During the search, Adams was arrested on six arrest warrants. Officers also found the marijuana, weighing scales and drug-related paraphernalia, said Raymond.

Adams and Andre Stratton, 25, of Pasco, were arrested on investigation of possessing marijuana with intent to deliver it. Both were taken to the Franklin County jail.

Police looking into guns stolen after 2 burglaries in Richland

Richland police are investigating two burglaries in which several guns were stolen.

Police said thieves forced their way into a home in the 1400 block of Duportail Street on Thursday, ransacked the house and stole a .38-caliber pistol, .22-caliber pistol, 30.06-caliber rifle and a 10-gauge shotgun.

The second burglary was sometime Friday or Saturday on Clermont Drive. Seven guns were stolen, including two rifles, three shotguns and two pistols.

Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to call the Richland police non-emergency number at 628-0333.

Police seek to identify woman who used stolen credit card

Kennewick police and Tri-Cities Crime Stoppers have released photographs and are asking the public's help in identifying a woman who tried to use a stolen credit card at a Kennewick store Jan. 31.

Police are unable to provide additional information about the woman, but say the card was reported stolen the same day.

The business owner has asked that the identity of the store not be made public, said police crime prevention specialist Mike Blatman.

Anyone with information that could help identify the woman is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 586-8477. Callers can remain confidential and may be eligible for a reward.

Pot grow found in Moses Lake after police respond to assault

Police busted a marijuana growing operation after they responded to a domestic assault Saturday in Moses Lake.

Herbert E. Ellsworth, 41, was booked into the Grant County jail on suspicion of manufacturing a controlled substance, possessing methamphetamine and fourth-degree domestic violence.

The Moses Lake Police Department was sent to investigate an assault involving Monica J. Cooper, 39, at 12:10 p.m. Saturday to the 800 block of South Grand Drive.

Officers received a search warrant and reportedly found 30 plants in various stages of growth or processing in a bedroom. A gun also was seized.

Total weight of the marijuana collected was more than a pound, according to the Moses Lake police.

Ellsworth fled the home but was found at a relative's house and taken into custody without incident.

Cooper also is under investigation for manufacturing marijuana and possessing meth.
