Police busted a marijuana growing operation after they responded to a domestic assault Saturday in Moses Lake.

Herbert E. Ellsworth, 41, was booked into the Grant County jail on suspicion of manufacturing a controlled substance, possessing methamphetamine and fourth-degree domestic violence.

The Moses Lake Police Department was dispatched to investigate an assault involving Monica J. Cooper, 39, about 12:10 p.m. Saturday to the 800 block of South Grand Drive.

Officers received a search warrant and reportedly found 30 plants in various stages of growth or processing in a bedroom. A gun was also seized.

Total weight of the marijuana collected was more than a pound, according to the Moses Lake police.

Ellsworth fled the home but was found at a relative’s house and taken into custody without incident.

Cooper is also under investigation for manufacturing marijuana and possessing meth.
