Please mark Feb. 14 on your calendar and join me in voting yes for the Kennewick School District School Operations levy renewal.

My two sons both received excellent, well-rounded educations while attending the Kennewick School District from kindergarten through high school due to the many opportunities afforded them while attending Kennewick schools. Many of these quality educational opportunities were paid for directly out of levy dollars, such as classroom technology, quality curriculum materials, athletics and other extracurricular activities.

It is also very important to remember that this is a levy renewal -- not a new tax. The current 2012 tax rate per $1,000 property value is approximately $3.34 and for 2013 it is projected to be $3.38 and for 2014 it is projected to be just $3.48. This two-year levy renewal has been well thought out and provides a great value for our tax dollars and quality education programs for our students.

Please support our kids and vote yes by Feb. 14.
