The Franklin County commissioners have called a special meeting for 9 a.m. Monday to evaluate complaints brought against a Franklin County Public Works manager accused of embezzling more than $1 million from the county over a decade.

The commissioners will discuss the complaints against Dennis M. Huston, 65, of Pasco, during a closed-door session.

Huston is being held on $500,000 bail on suspicion of first-degree theft, money laun-dering and cocaine possession.

Commissioners also will discuss during open session an agreement for engineering services with Benton County.

Brad Peck, chairman of the Franklin County Commission, told the Herald on Thursday that he has contacted Benton County commissioners to see if an agreement could be worked out to have Benton County's deputy Public Works director work in Franklin County on an interim basis to oversee the day-to-day activities of the 41-employee department.

Huston is one of nine county employees put on administrative leave as part of a probe into the theft of public funds.

The meeting will be at 1016 N. Fourth Ave. in Pasco.
