Kennewick boys basketball team holds off Southridge

Bryce Leavitt had 26 points, nine rebounds and seven assists to lead the Kennewick boys basketball team past visiting Southridge 77-65 in CBBN 3A action on Friday night.

Kennewick outscored Southridge by 12 in the second quarter to blow the game open.

Luiz Santiago scored 19 points for Kennewick, while Drew Scott's 20 points led Southridge.

The win keeps the Lions one game behind Kamiakin for first in the league with one game to play.

Sunnyside 52, Pasco 46: Israel Manzo had 20 points for Sunnyside, Julian Figueroa had 21 for host Pasco and the Grizzlies broke away from a 41-41 tie late in the fourth quarter to edge Pasco in a CBBN 3A contest.

"It was a very tight, defensive ballgame," said Pasco coach Charlie Villanueva, who said that while a diamond-and-1 halfcourt defense diminished Manzo's scoring, it wasn't enough to stop Sunnyside's attack.

"It slowed him down, but they had some guys that stepped up and hit some tough shots down the stretch."

"They were up eight at some point in the fourth and we just went on a tear," Kiona-Benton coach Jack Rose said. "Wahluke came out and played really tough."
