Earlier this season, the Chiawana Riverhawks won their second league title and ran the table in the CBBN 4A.
Now, they are working on their first district championship.
The host Riverhawks jumped out to a 31-point lead Friday in the first day of the CBBN 4A district, moving 15 wrestlers into today's semifinals.
The top four in each weight class advance to next week's regional tournament at Moses Lake. Today's matches start at 10 a.m., with championships estimated for a 4 p.m. start.
There were few surprises on the first day, as the top three seeds advanced in each weight and only five No. 4s were knocked off.
Chiawana has 146 points, with Moses Lake second at 115. The Chiefs have 11 in the semifinals, including seven in the first four weights. Noteable among the Moses Lake lineup was Beau Gleed and Hayden Wise swapping weights at 120 and 126. Gleed dropping down sets up a potential final between state placers, with Richland's Josh Andrew the No. 1 seed in the bracket.
The Bombers have three in the semifinals and are in sixth place. Walla Walla has five in the semis but still trails Richland by 51/2 points and is in last place.

CBBN 3A district: Sunnyside jumped out to a big first-day lead, with Pasco (341/2 points back) the only other team in sight in the tournament at Hanford.
The defending champion Grizzlies have 13 wrestlers in the semifinals, two more than the Bulldogs. Wrestling resumes at 10 a.m. today, with finals slated for 4 p.m. The top six wrestlers in each weight class advance to next week's regional at University High in Spokane.
The top two seeds in each weight advanced, though a pair of No. 3s went down. Pasco's Phoenix Virgen beat Eastmont No. 3 Camden Wheatcroft 12-8 at 138, though Virgen is a regional veteran. Also, five No. 4 seeds were bumped out of the championship bracket.
Southridge is in third place with eight in the semifinals. Fourth-place Hanford has six in the semis, five of them at 170 pounds and up.
Kamiakin (5) and Kennewick (3) are in seventh and eighth place.
