Pasco levy: Yes

12:00am on Feb 2, 2012; Modified: 7:38am on Feb 2, 2012

On Feb.14, Pasco citizens will vote on the school district maintenance and operations levy. This levy is a renewal of the current levy which was passed in 2010. Levy dollars are critical for the smooth operation of the district, especially as it faces increasing cuts from the state. Levy dollars support art, music and drama programs; librarians, library clerks and library books; school nurses, substitute teachers, elementary counselors, school security, maintenance and custodial services and student transportation.

The Pasco School Board has been recognized for its fiscal conservatism and excellent management of taxpayer dollars. Pasco schools are well-maintained and provide a safe and welcoming environment for all students. As a parent of two Pasco High school graduates who have gone on to earn their college degrees, I know that our students are receiving a quality education in Pasco. I urge all Pasco citizens to join me in supporting our children by voting yes on this levy. It is our gift to the future.
