The marrriage choice

I am a Richland High School student and a member of its new club the GSA (Gay Straight Alliance). I find it appalling how people think they can claim the word "marriage?" Isn't it flattering to the tradition that people want to actually marry?

Many couples, regardless of orientation, live together and nurture children without marrying. Wouldn't we rather have them promise one another in matrimony if they wanted?

Under the Constitution, we have rights. Why do some think they can refuse others the same right to choose? We should be pleased about the option of choice. Tolerance for views of practical neighbors doesn't weaken our worth and values; it strengthens them.

Applaud our governor's determinations to stimulate opportunities to choose marriage. It's time.
