Hermiston claimed a pair of titles at the prestigious Reser's Tournament of Champions in Hillsboro, Ore.
But the big news in Bulldog country is the title they did not bring home. For the first time in two years, Joey Delgado lost a match, falling 3-2 to Roseburg's Drew Van Anrooy in the 138-pound championship.
Delgado, bidding to become the school's first four-time state champion, also was hoping to secure a fourth Reser's title. Instead, he finished with a rare ding to his career record, still an impressive 180-3.
And there were plenty of highlights for the Bulldogs, who got titles from Isaac Aguilar at 113 and repeat champion Tyler Berger at 132.
Aguilar pinned Henley's Zach Bresser in the third period of their title match. Berger, an unbeaten sophomore following in the footsteps of Delgado, claimed his second Reser's crown with a 4-1 decision over McNary's Devon Reynolds.
The Bulldogs had two more wrestlers place: Lupe Delgado either fifth or sixth at 145, and Abraham Rodriguez third or fourth at 152. As of Sunday evening, the Reser's website had yet to update the finals and placing matches. Finals results can be found at OregonLive.com.
