Two weeks ago at Kelso, Gilbert Mendoza edged twin brother Robert 2-1 in a tournament final.

On Saturday at Hanford, the Pasco seniors both brought home titles from the Radiation Invitational, an impromptu tournament put together to make up for matches lost to bad weather and icy roads the previous weekend.

Gilbert won at 138 pounds, and Robert -- wrestling unattached for the "Bulldogs" team -- topped fellow Pasco wrestler Jackson Fromm 1-0 in the 145 final.

Decatur made the trip from Federal Way and claimed the team title with three champions. Southridge matched the Gators with three individual champions --Kevin Del-Angel, Randy Harris and Julio Aleman won consecutive titles from 182 to 220 -- and finished third.

Hanford was second despite nabbing just one title -- Joe Traverso pinned Decatur's Cody Vanderlin at 170 in a matchup of top-10 wrestlers in the 3A.

Chiawana, which placed fourth, got its one title from Eli Sikes at 106. He topped Hanford's Blake Llarenas 4-2 in the final. Pasco was fifth and technically won just three titles -- Gilbert Mendoza, Timmy Martinez at 120 and Anthony McKittrick at 152. Kamiakin, which finished 11/2 points back of Pasco, got titles at 132 from Harley Kolp (12-1 win over Kennewick's Ty Smith) and 160 from Sisto Santana Pina.

Pina, ranked fourth in the 3A, pinned state vet and eighth-ranked Nick Karis of Decatur in his final. That after Karis edged Southridge's Connor Rosane 11-9 in their semifinal.

While Del-Angel pinned his way through the 182 bracket, Hanford had three wrestlers place. Casey Enderlin wrestled for the Falcons and was pinned by Del-Angel in the final. Fellow Hanford wrestlers Ben Tynan and Drew Hansen, wrestling for the "Honey Badgers" and unattached, finished third and fourth, with Tynan topping Hansen 6-0.

The Suns' title at 195 also came against Hanford, with Harris edging Will Bishop 4-1. Pasco's Martinez and Kamiakin's Junior Pina also put on a good show in the final at 120, a 2-0 win for Martinez.
