RED DEER, Alberta -- Mathew Dumba scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to lead the Red Deer Rebels to a 3-2 victory Friday over the Tri-City Americans at Enmax Centrium.

The Americans (35-11-1-1) are tied atop the Western Hockey League standings with the Kamloops Blazers and the Edmonton Oil Kings with 72 points.

Red Deer (22-21-1-4, 49 points) which has won two in a row, is in the hunt for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, just two points behind the eighth-place Brandon Wheat Kings.

The Americans squandered a 2-0 lead in the third period as John Persson and Dumba put in goals for Red Deer.

An Americans turnover led to Persson's goal. He slid the puck under Eric Comrie's left pad at 4:21.

Dumba's first goal came on his own rebound at 10:52.

Rebels goalie Deven Dubyk stopped all 14 of the Americans' shots in the third period to give his team a chance. He finished with 36 saves.

Dumba, a top defensive prospect for this year's NHL draft, scored just 38 seconds into overtime on a feed by Charles Inglis, beating Comrie glove side.

The Americans opened the scoring in the first as Adam Hughesman threaded a pass across the slot to Connor Rankin, who found daylight behind Dubyk at 8:04.

Zach Yuen cleaned up a rebound off a Hughesman shot at 6:09 of the second period to put Tri-City up 2-0.

Rookie goalie Comrie (15-4-1-0) finished with 35 saves for the Americans, including 22 through the first two periods.

Tri-City wraps up its three-game trek to the Central Division on Sunday at Calgary.
